Kids in preschool through 5th grade are welcome to join us for Sunday School happening after worship from September through May. Each Sunday our kids will dive into a bible story and do an activity. From crafts, to science experiements, it is always a fun time.

Volunteers are always needed. Please contact the Director of Christian Education for more information.

First Lutheran youth participate in the life of the church, as ushers, lectors, coffee hour hosts and community work volunteers in addition to traditional youth-centric activities. Middle and High School youth are invited to participate in various retreats, service projects, and team-building activities throughout the year, including fundraising events. These activities have included lock-ins, serving holiday dinners, packing meals at Feed My Starving Children, and delivering Meals on Wheels. Some of our traditions include serving pancakes to pajama-clad worshipers before church in February, volunteering as VBS leaders in June, and traveling to Knoxville, TN for a week-long mission/retreat in July. We often share and co-host activities with friends from other congregations, especially our partners at Bethlehem and Salem Lutheran Churches in DeKalb and Sycamore.
